Summer is almost over! Here at HappyDoll, we have plenty of updates for you:
A few weeks ago, we visited the kids from the Vacation Bible School at the Metropolitan Methodist Church to make HappyDolls. It seems like the “vampire” trend hasn’t worn out yet! One child made a “Vampire HappyDoll”, which playfully bit another…before you know it, many of the HappyDolls had turned into vampires! We can’t wait to send them off to others during Halloween season.
The following week, we made friends with new volunteers through a HappyDoll stuffing session at the senior living center called Atria West 86. This luxury residence impressed us with their refined facility, quality of care, and the various types of activities the residents partake in such as French class, bingo, and trips to Bloomingdale’s. We made more than 60 blank dolls at this session!
Finally, HappyDoll was invited by Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ to host an event at their annual Take-Your-Children-to-Work Day. More than 30 children visited the New York and New Jersey office to speak to employees and learn about the bank where their parents and families work.
We thought this would a perfect opportunity for the children to learn that BTMU not only helps people financially but also participates in volunteer work to help out the community. It was so exciting to see many familiar faces from our past stuffing session at BTMU, and to meet their daughters, sons, nieces, and nephews. When the kids found out employees of BTMU have been supporting HappyDoll through stuffing sessions, they were eager to experience the joy of giving just like their parents and family members!
As you can see, HappyDolls are made one by one by both adults and children who care for others. We think about the children abroad who will receive these dolls and how it might make them smile a bit wider than the day before. That’s why these dolls are not just cotton-stuffed, but also filled with warm thoughts of love!
If you’re interested in inviting HappyDoll to your “Take-Your-Child-to-Work” events, please get in touch and we would love to coordinate a fun activity at the office for you and your children to give back to the community together! We also hold HappyDoll making sessions at schools, hospitals, after-school programs, special needs programs, events, birthday parties, and even baby showers. We’re always open to suggestions!
A big thank you to Metropolitan Methodist Church, Atria West86, and BTMU for having us!
Stay tuned! We’ve got more exciting events coming your way…
